I was just sad about this. And then I thought about the prospect of Maddie and Maggie being together again and, if somehow, that's possible, that might just make this easier to take.

    You're a good dog, Maddie!

  5. The thought that Maddy will tell Maggie about the cat makes me a little concerned for the reunion, though.

Never in a million years would Maggie have guessed that her dad would be a cat liker.

  10. Thank you, everyone, for today. So many people have sent thoughts and love and condolences. I so appreciate the jokes and levity as well. Maddy was such an important part of my life; and such an important relationship.

It's hard put into words, especially now, right after she's gone.

She was a character. A smart, funny, sweet and sometimes infuriating reminder the joys that abound in imperfection. I learned a great deal from living with her for the past 16 years. I wish she could have stayed much longer.

I hope she's found Maggie and they are chasing GHWB's Millie clone on the big beach in the sky.

Oh, Siobhan. I'm so sorry. But I'm happy that you got to enjoy Maddy and Maddy got to enjoy you for so many years. You are both the lucky ones.

  17. Well…sorry to read of this important loss to your family. You have written much about you furry friends and we know how much Maddy meant to you and your relations. I’m sure your babies are sad as well, especially Annabel who has not know a day without Maddy.
Eventually time heals all such wounds and they will be wishing for a puppy, not to replace Maddy but to move on.

Very nice photo tribute to your friend, Maddy the family dog.

  18. :( Very sorry over here too. I'm taking my cat in tomorrow morning... we've been together for 18 years. So I kinda get it. But I know that dog people have a special relationship with their furry friends.

    Peace...
