Random Question Thursday

tree, originally uploaded by toyfoto.

What's the longest you've left your (live) Christmas tree up?

So far? February 20th (tomorrow) ... and counting.

As a kid, we would sometime leave our (artificial) tree up for years at a time. It was also our Groundhog Day tree, and our Fourth of July tree, etc. In between holidays, we covered it with a big white plastic bag and called it the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Last year, we had a little one. Since we didn't have a floor or any ornaments, my sister made ribbon-and-nut ornaments that we hung on a tree outside one year when we were kids.

The tree was gone within a week or two. But the ornaments? Well. It's been over a year now, and they still turn up.

We don't have a live one (although I found out this year that they are sold somewhere in the capital for exhuberant prices). Ours goes down by Jan 1st, 12th at the latest. The one down by the security guard stays up longer... I usually start getting upset by St. Patrick's day. Some restaurants are known for keeping them up all year.
