We contemplated singing "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" in honor of Great Grandfather Miller's 99th birthday last Saturday, but Annabel reminded us that she was exercising temperance. So she decided it was going to be "Happy Birthday" all day long. She even started practicing in the car on the drive to Concord, Mass. She had a wonderful time disrupting the dinners of all the residents of Newbury Court, but something tells me (judging from the sound of laughter and elation that waved through the room) no one really minded having a toddler calling "don't follow me," as she weaved her way through the main dinning hall, dragging a half dozen balloons behind her. Of course, as it came time to sing, she clammed up when she was brought before the guest of honor. ... back in her own seat at the far end of the table she could belt it out. That's my girl.
